Faith is the substance…?
In Hebrews 11 the writer of Hebrews doesn’t define faith but explains the nature of it. Our faith becomes substance and evidence. Wow, faith is given substance by the intensity for which we hold to and expect it. Our faith becomes the evidence of that for which we hope! Because we we make decisions and live our life following our faith. And it always stand in opposition to the World. Faith says it is better to suffer with God than to prosper with the world. Think about Moses, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Reject that which was in front if them and standing on their faith in God.
As one writer said, “faith is the ability to take what is in the future and give it present substance.”
So in chapter 11 of Hebrews the writer gives examples of those who believed but never received, trusted but never saw, but “died in faith.” They never saw heaven but they believed it and grabbed and embraced it.
What about you do you have that kind of faith?
