AWANA (an acronym for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, from 2 Timothy 2:15), is an international evangelical nonprofit organization founded in 1950 headquartered in Streamwood, Illinois. The organization supplies local churches with weekly clubs, programs and Bible training for students in preschool through high school. The goal of AWANA is that these students would come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe at SMBC that a pure life pleases our Lord. and that purity comes from knowing and understanding God's Word. (Psalm 119:11) By teaching youth how to memorize scripture and learn his word we grow closer to him and glorify his name. All of this is done in a fun and safe environment with trained leaders helping along the way. Join us at SMBC on Sunday Nights for a great night of AWANA!
